Merry Christmas everyone 🎄 It’s been a while, but I’ve got some news I’m really excited about. I’m starting a Substack, a place for longer thoughts, proper conversations, and deeper stories about the buildings, homes, cafes, and sandwich bars I visit.
I’ve always loved the history inside these places. The people who lived in them, worked in them, and kept them going through all the changes. A lot of what I know about Leyton & Hackney and Homerton before redevelopment came from my parents, and it made me realise how easy it is for these stories to disappear if no one writes them down.
So I want to celebrate the owners, the families, the communities, and share their stories with people who care about architecture, neighbourhoods, and memory. Substack feels like the right place to build a little archive, nothing too formal, just honest, human, and accessible.
