A cosy Algerian owned coffee shop/bar in Paris I went to today with the loveliest I must say, owner. What pulled me in straight away was the rounded bar and the overhead canopy it’s got that streamline moderne feel that carried into mid century interiors. The horizontal wood grain is classic as well, something you used to see a lot in cafés, bars and lounges back then.

The other thing I liked was the floor. Small scale tiles, very practical, very modernist. It actually reminds me a bit of swimming pool flooring. These were common in more everyday cafés and bistros not high design places but they’ve got a kind of honesty to them.

I had a martini, my friends had coffee, and the owner charged us £6 total which was unexpected to say the least. Way cheaper than I thought. The owner himself is quite chatty and likes understanding where you are from and what are you up to during your day, you won’t be bored while enjoying your drink:))

If you go, bring cash or you will end up like me walking for ages to find an ATM 🙁
